Background

The Annual Scientific Conference of the Association of Anesthesiologists of Uganda (AAU) and the Intensive Care Society of Uganda (ICSU) is the premier gathering for anesthesia and critical care professionals across Uganda and the wider East African region.

Now in its 11th edition, the conference brings together physicians, intensivists, nurses, residents, and allied health professionals to share research, exchange best practices, and strengthen the continuum of perioperative and critical care in Uganda.

This year the conference moves to Mbale Resort Hotel in Mbale — Uganda's gateway to Mount Elgon — reflecting the commitment to extending professional development opportunities beyond the capital.

Conference Objectives

  • Share current research and evidence-based practices in anesthesia and critical care.
  • Build capacity for safe anesthesia delivery in low-resource and rural settings.
  • Promote interdisciplinary collaboration among surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and intensivists.
  • Recognise and celebrate excellence through the Tindimweba & Mijumbi Awards.
  • Foster mentorship and professional networking opportunities for trainees and students.
  • Engage industry partners to showcase innovations relevant to the Ugandan context.
