Executive Committee

AAU is governed by an Executive Committee which manages its day to day affairs and is vested with the power to establish committees and subcommittees whose members are appointed on the basis of their skills and experience to certain specialized functions.

President

Dr Kiwanuka Kyobe Joseph, MBChB (MUST), MMED anaesthesia (MUST) is a senior anesthesiologist and critical care doctor with additional training in regional anaesthesia from the University of Montpellier. Honorary lecturer Department of Anaesthesia and critical care (MUST), and a member of the association of anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland (AAGBI)

Dr. Cornelius Sendagire.

Cornelius Sendagire is a Cardiac Anesthesiologist/Intensivist at Uganda Heart Institute where he provides a myriad of services which include Perioperative care, Critical care and Emergency care for both Pediatric and Adult cardiac patients.  

He is also a Lecturer in the Department of Anaesthesia and Critical Care, School of Medicine,  Makerere University College of Health Sciences.

Dr. Elizabeth Namugaya Igaga
Treasurer

Dr. Elizabeth Namugaya Igaga is an anesthesiologist with a bias to paediatric anesthesia and a perioperative patient and health worker safety enthusiast. She is a lecturer with the department of Anesthesia and Critical care at the College of Health Sciences, Makerere University. Passionate about teaching, she is a Safer Anesthesia From Education (SAFE) instructor. She is AAU Treasurer elect 2020-2022.

Message from the president.

Welcome to the Association of Anaesthesiologists of Uganda (AAU). The aim of `the Association is to provide a platform for members to associate and advance the interests of the Association and its members. We shall achieve this by advocating for improved patient care and safety, facilitating the process of knowledge acquisition of our members, encouraging regional and international collaborations and always advancing and supporting any other interests of our members.
